I always get the maximum amount of change when using cash to buy a Bart ticket. Put in a $20, push a bunch of buttons, and then get a ticket and a bunch of quarters go satisfyingly “KACHING-KACHING-KACHING-KACHING” into the little box.

It’s like a slot machine, but it gives you a ride home after.
